Monopod is publishing about automotive photography, art and culture. For its February 2020 issue I wrote a piece loosely based on my travels through the west of America, enjoying its Motels, Hotels and Holiday Inns – the most popular manifestations of ‘The Great American Road’ mythology and key componants in an Americana road-trip – both figuratively and factually.
Despite spending a lot of time in Motels, I never overdosed. Never got bludgeoned to death in the bath. Never met Sailor Ripley.
Still. I’m a big fan, nonetheless.
